Updated Java was necessary for our manufacturing operations, but the need wasn’t met by the Information Technology department, so I had to bring the company on board.

Issue:

During the implementation of CellFusion, I was frequently asked how to update Java so their system would run properly. To streamline support and reduce repeated interruptions, I created this step-by-step PDF guide for team members (>80 people). It was also distributed so they could assist others who encountered similar issues as well.

Overview:

This document is a step-by-step instruction for updating Java which was necessary for CellFusion to work correctly.

Steps for Updating Java include:

  • Start by searching for the latest Java update using Google.
  • Use Internet Explorer, as Java is not compatible with Chrome.
  • Check your current Java version and begin the update process.
  • Download the updated Java version and run the installer.
  • Wait for the installation to finish—it may take several minutes.
  • The old Java version will be automatically removed during installation.
  • After installation, restore Java security prompts as needed.
  • Confirm the Java update by re-verifying the installed version
